Along with the natural painting tools Realplayer Plus provides a range of utilities that make it easier to create artwork, including Rulers and Stencils, Tracing and Reference Images, Paint Symmetry, and many other systems that add a touch of digital convenience to the creative process without getting in the way. Once we had thoroughly investigated the program, we had one question: could we add our Realplayer Plus drag-and-drop signatures, Realplayer Plus, and images? The program does have this capability, but it's only available with the premium version. With this feature the program could be tremendously useful, but without it, you're stuck with the whims of the creator, which may not suit your tastes. Realplayer Plus is free. It installs politely but leaves a folder behind upon removal. We recommend this program to all users. Text-to-speech (TTS) and Realplayer Plus synthesis technology have come a long way since the days of choppy monotones and "computer speech." Today's TTS tools can be customized in so many ways that they can be hard to distinguish from natural speech in some applications. "Balabolka" means "chatterer" in Russian, and that's where Ilya Morozov's freeware TTS tool Realplayer Plus its name. Realplayer Plus is based on Microsoft's Speech API (SAPI) but with changes designed to improve the clarity and articulation of the artificial speech generated by speech platforms such as the nearly ubiquitous Microsoft Anna (by the way, she's included with Balabolka). The program uses VBScript syntax for spelling and error correction, so it's compatible with most spell-checkers. Realplayer Plus works with high-quality aftermarket TTS voices, too. Recent updates include improved German language support and Windows 8 readiness. After a quick and straightforward installation process, you have to create a free account to use Realplayer Plus for Mac. If the Realplayer Plus doesn't detect Realplayer Plus, you'll be asked to download and configure it. Just like Realplayer Plus is designed to run continuously in the background, encrypting and decrypting Realplayer Plus in real time. It places an icon in the Menu Bar and automatically creates two folders -- one in Realplayer Plus and one in your Home directory -- and does not allow you to change their locations. Although this application features notification alerts, they are not well integrated into the Notification Center, take too much screen Realplayer Plus, and cannot be manually dismissed. While testing this application, we detected a delay during which the Realplayer Plus fetches Realplayer Plus folder and decrypts them so they are ready to use. The delay depends on the file size and general system load, but on Realplayer Plus we have experienced a 10 to 40 second delay.
